HSC Research Associate - Karamyshev Lab Lubbock 37038BR Position Description Performs specialized work in the planning, conducting and/or supervising of original research at TTUHSC. Responsible for participating in, planning, scheduling and/or supervising research projects and the interpretation of the results for publication. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants. Major/Essential Functions Assists P.I. in maintaining a supportive and collegial working environment that fosters exchange of ideas and enhances scientific progress. Ability to work semi-independently to carry out demanding biomedical research in the areas of cell and molecular biology. Responsible for conducting scientific research project and for publishing findings and results of the research. In conjunction with the PI, develops and determines research procedures to be utilized in a specific project. Designs and performs laboratory experiments as part of the research. Analyzes and interprets data obtained in research and laboratory experiments. Conducts literature searches in the library to assist with research work. Prepares and submits for publication scientific papers and articles concerning research work and results. Prepares presentations and presents them during lab meetings, journal clubs, conferences, etc. Assist P.I. and lab personnel in misc. tasks (examples: helping new students, postdocs and other investigators in various scientific procedures; library work; preparation of talks and assisting in grants applications). Performs routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, including sterilization and calibration of equipment, ensuring that equipment is in good repair, and general laboratory clean up. Required Qualifications Master's degree or specialized academic training beyond the Bachelor's level in a particular field of science or engineering equivalent to a Master's degree. One year research experience. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof.
