About Our Job
The Denver Mayor's Office Director of Boards and Commissions is seeking an unpaid, part-time Intern. The Intern will have exposure to the 130 Boards and Commissions and the 1,200 appointees within the City and County of Denver. The intern will assist the Director of Boards and Commissions with updating the mayoral boards and commissions database and website. The intern would also assist in preparing information that will support the Mayor's decisions regarding appointments. This opportunity is available for fall beginning between August/September 2019 for approximately 10-12 weeks. This is a part-time internship requiring 15 - 20 hours per week during normal business hours which are 8:00am - 5:00pm. Hours/schedule are flexible.

The Intern will experience a fast-paced, professional environment specific to mayoral boards, office administration, event planning and special projects and will learn about the Mayor and his initiatives and Denver municipal government, government and public service. The Intern will be trained in formal and informal training sessions and will embarking on new tasks. They will report to the and work closely under the Director of Boards and Commissions and Director of Administration within the Mayor's Office.

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to experience:
  • Organizing, tracking, & filing applicants into sales force
  • Communicating and providing updates to candidates on the status of applications
  • Coordinating and scheduling interviews for candidates
  • Providing customer service to applicants via telephone
  • Resolve candidate questions and guiding them through processes
  • Communicating and collaborate with the Director of Boards and Commissions
  • Attending board and commissions meetings under the supervisor of the Director of Board and Commissions
  • Additional administrative projects using MS Office suite as assigned
  • Special projects and other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or requested

This is an unpaid internship

About You

Our Ideal Intern will have/be:
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Superb attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Previous experience with event planning/coordination
  • The ability to communicate and work with others
  • Experience in data entry and administrative organization
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and strong sense of business acumen

  • Current enrollment in a college program leading to a degree in a professional field specific to the departmental and/or work assignment
