Description This is a part-time, at-will position exempt from the classified service. This position will work a varied schedule of hours including nights, holidays and weekends. The Senior Video Technician II will be utilized on an on-call as-needed basis, dependent upon the needs of the City to cover various events. Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of technical duties including live and taped video production for City programs, meetings and events, camera operation, non-linear editing, writing for productions, and related duties as assigned. Operates video production equipment, including, but not limited to, cameras and camera support equipment, audio and lighting equipment, video switchers and routers, teleprompters and recording devices, program scheduling and playback equipment, and video editing and graphics systems; Performs as producer, co-producer, director, writer, editor and/or talent for various projects; Coordinates with appropriate elected officials, City Departments and public for any special programming and/or requests; Schedules times, books locations and secures talent for production; and Performs tasks to support administrative functions of the Division, and other related duties, as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of: Video production theory and practices; Editing systems and production equipment; and Computers and associated software programs used in video production. Skill in: Directing the development and production of cable television programs; Analyzing technical problems and implementing effective corrective action; Developing and implementing effective program procedures; Researching and developing program ideas and concepts; Utilizing public relations techniques responding to inquiries and complaints; Training, evaluating and motivating employees, volunteers and students; and Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, elected officials, other City Departments and the local public. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: A combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in television or video production that includes experience editing in a formal post-production environment. Experience editing with Adobe Premiere Pro is highly desirable. Education: Associate of Art degree. License/Certificates: Due to the performance of some field duties which requires the operation of a personal or City vehicle, valid and appropriate California driver's license and acceptable driving record are required. Work is performed under the supervision of the Broadcast Operations Manager and is reviewed through observation of results obtained Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Computer Arts, Visual Aids, or related field and two to three (2-3) years’ experience in promotional communication and one (1) year as a professional producer; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida Driver's License is required. A background check which includes a polygraph is required, depending on the area of assignment.
