THE POSITION NON-CAREER PART-TIME/SEASONAL On a part-time basis, supervise and participate in the leadership and/or monitoring of a variety of recreation activities, special events, and human service programs related to older adults and older adults with memory loss. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Employees in this classification are non-career. Incumbents can work up to 1040 hours per year. This classification differs from a Recreation Aide, Older Adults in that the Senior Recreation Aide has the responsibility for supervising Recreation Aides. The Senior Recreation Aide, Older Services is distinguished from the Senior Recreation Aide classification in that the former leads and monitors programs geared toward older adults and older adults with memory loss. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED General supervision is provided by a higher-level position. Responsibilities include the direct supervision of Recreation Aides and/or other lower level City positions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform related duties as needed. Supervise the work of Recreation Aides or other lower level staff. Assist in the planning of programs and activities offered. Assist older adults with personal care and mobility issues. Ensure the safety of participants by monitoring for wandering and other behaviors related to memory loss. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Employees in this classification are non-career. Incumbents can work up to 1040 hours per year. The Camp Recreation Leader is distinguished from the Camp Aide in that the latter assists in delivering recreation programs and activities and may perform a variety of other tasks such as, sales transactions, cleaning, and light maintenance. The Camp Recreation Leader is distinguished from the Senior Camp Aquatics Leader in that the the latter is responsible for performing open water lifeguard duties in addition to leading recreation activities at Camp Sacramento.
