Position Overview The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill two (2) vacancies for the classification of Crime and Intelligence Analyst I in the Police Department. Assist department personnel in monitoring and tracking criminal activity and developing methods and procedures for the dissemination of information to the public; develop and provide special crime analysis reports. Produce training videos and/or written procedures relating to crime analysis functions. Prepare a full range of records and reports; provide statistical information for filing required crime reports with local, state and federal agencies. Attend and present at department meetings and briefings (e.g. Patrol, Investigations, Traffic, etc.). Participate in monthly Orange County Crime Analysis meetings. Perform related duties as required. Qualification Guidelines A typical way to obtain the requisite knowledge and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of this classification is as follows: EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in criminology, public administration, or a related field and two (2) years of administrative experience, including experience in a law enforcement agency. Up to two (2) years of additional work experience directly related to this position may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required education on a year-for-year basis. Memberships in the Southern California Crime & Intelligence Association and the International Association of Crime Analysts are desirable. LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATE: Class C California Driver's License. Revocation of license during employment may result in disciplinary action or reassignment. Possession of a Crime and Intelligence Analysis Certification is desirable. REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL LEVELS: Knowledge of the basic organization and functions of a municipal law enforcement agency. Knowledge of the principles of mathematics and statistics. Knowledge of methods and techniques of data collection, research, and report preparation. Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations. Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of GIS and MS Office programs. Knowledge of CAD/RMS systems is desirable. Knowledge of modern office practices, methods, and computer equipment; principles and procedures of record keeping. Knowledge of English usage, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation. Knowledge of word processing methods, techniques, and programs including graphics, spreadsheets, and various database applications.
