Summary

The County of Alameda seeks a progressive and innovative Web Development Manager with a passion for using creativity and technology to provide innovative technology services to the community. He/She will develop websites that are impactful and social-friendly for desktop and mobile experiences.  The incumbent will lead a team that creates and/or uses social media, websites, videos, pictures and posters that communicate our mission in the best way possible while maintaining and developing applications that relate to the team.

 

He/She will have a passion for technology and innovation and enjoy working with a spirited and creative team.  A typical day may include leading a team that is responsible for designing a new website, creating a logo for a new project, preparing for a hackathon, developing a marketing plan for an event, creating a video for the annual report, upgrading the CMS, leveraging new technology like Alexa for a new app or teaching youth that are interested in a career in technology.  He/She may be asked to lead an effort to be Cloud First. 

 

He/She will be versatile and act as an Account Manager for several agencies that includes Portfolio Management and be a Delivery Manager responsible for supporting enterprise systems such as the CMS, GIS and a Document Management System.

Requirements:

 

  • Experience in web development; owning and managing websites for a medium to large organization.
  • Experience managing and supporting an enterprise content management system.
  • Extensive knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/Google Tag Manager with ability to rapidly learn and master diverse web technologies and techniques.  
  • Hands-on experience managing the web production process. Understanding of information architecture, user experience, interaction design, visual design initiatives, analytics/testing and development (including mobile). Ability to leverage knowledge gathered from hands-on experience to effectively consult with, and guide, stakeholders.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems logically and systematically.
  • Ability to work against tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and work on multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously. Ability to tactfully and gracefully negotiate achievable deadlines and scope of work with customers.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including experience interacting with senior managers; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, manage vendors, and deliver tangible results.
  • Experience transforming an organization to digital using web, mobile, social media, collaboration, GIS (Geospatial) and video technologies.
  • End-to-end experience implementing and supporting portfolios of applications across cloud-based, on premise and homegrown. 
  • Experience managing a high performing creative team that can deliver an awesome product on any medium.
  • Experience in budgeting and spending decisions for their area of expertise. 
  • A passion for making a difference by working with students, hackathons and events that benefit the employees and constituents of Alameda County.
