Located at the base of Pikes Peak, the City is one of Colorado’s most sought towns as a place to live, work and play. Manitou Springs seeks an exceptional municipal executive to serve as a respected leader and community partner who will initiate progressive change as the City embarks on implementing its recently adopted twenty-year comprehensive master plan.
The Administrator upholds Manitou Springs’s mission, values and goals as refined by Council. The Council in collaboration with the Administrator establishes and refines policies memorialized in the city code which the Administrator is then responsible for implementing and enforcing. Applicants should possess persuasive communication and negotiation skills and have a high energy level to match the challenges of this unique opportunity.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned Administrator with substantial experience in progressive municipal governments, both large and small. During their career they will have had significant leadership and management roles in areas that well suit them for the challenges Manitou Springs faces. First hand familiarity with economic development, tourism, environment and preservation issues would be a strong plus. The next Administrator should be ready to embrace the unique heritage of the City while keeping an eye on the future. Active engagement and outreach to both the residential and commercial community are essential in this position. Enhancing and encouraging a vibrant work culture of accomplishment and service instilled with teamwork and fun will be leadership traits the Administrator brings to the staff daily.
