This opportunity is ideal for attorneys considering a strategic lateral move, exploring a boutique combination, or planning for long-term practice transition or succession.The role focuses on leading complex and confidential investigations for both public and private sector clients across California. The successful candidate will bring a strong reputation in the investigations space, sound legal judgment, and the ability to manage sensitive matters from initial intake through reporting and recommendations.Responsibilities:• Lead and manage high-level investigations involving workplace matters, governance concerns, and compliance-related issues• Conduct interviews, gather and evaluate evidence, and prepare detailed investigative findings and reports• Advise clients on complex personnel and ethics matters with discretion and professionalism• Manage independent investigations involving executive leadership, governance, and organizational culture concerns• Provide counsel to public agencies, educational institutions, municipalities, and private employers as needed• Maintain and expand an existing client portfolio while developing long-term strategic relationships• Oversee matters independently and collaborate with firm leadership on practice growth opportunities throughout CaliforniaRequired Qualifications:• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school• Active California Bar membership in good standing• Significant experience conducting complex workplace, compliance, or ethics investigations• Proven ability to independently manage investigations through findings and final reporting• Strong writing, interviewing, and analytical skills• Established client relationships and a verifiable portable investigations practice• Portable annual investigations-related revenue of approximately $300K+Preferred Qualifications:• Experience with Title IX investigations• Background advising public entities, municipalities, or educational institutions• Executive misconduct or ethics investigation experience• Experience conducting organizational culture or compliance assessments• Interest in long-term strategic practice planning, succession, or boutique combination opportunitiesKey Skills Required:• Complex investigations management• Client relationship development• Interviewing and witness assessment• Legal writing and reporting• Compliance and ethics advisory• Strategic practice developmentWhy This Location?California offers access to a wide range of professional and lifestyle benefits.
