The paramedic assists with the activities of the nursing staff, the patient, the physician, other hospital departments, and visitors.Education, Licensure, Registration and Experience:High School graduate or equivalent required.EMT-P Certification required.Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.Basic computer knowledge is preferred.CPR certification required. BLS is expected at renewal.2 Years of Paramedic experience preferred.Essential Functions:Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide patient care under the direct supervision of the RN.Accurately obtain and record patient specific data.Utilizes service recovery techniques when appropriate and escalates patient/visitor issues when necessary.Demonstrates safety while lifting, transferring, transporting, and discharging patients.IV establishment and maintenance.Demonstrates competency in the skills of point of care testing.Completes tasks delegated by the RN.Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra- departmentally to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goals and objectives.Assists POCT in completing required paperwork and documentation prior to the end of every shift.Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.
