    Job DutiesThis position processes and manages a wide range of court filings for civil, small claims, and criminal cases. Duties include opening new case filings, accepting payments, reviewing documents for completeness, assigning judges, issuing summonses for civil cases, and scheduling court dates for dissolution, forcible entry, and detainer matters. The incumbent routes documents for imaging and case processing within OnBase, issues deficiency notices for filings missing required forms, and provides extensive customer service and administrative support to the public, attorneys, state agencies, and court personnel.Responsibilities include responding to inquiries regarding court procedures, file requests, copy requests, forms, and research materials; directing customers to additional resources; answering telephones; and supporting front‑counter operations during peak periods. Additional duties include recalling outstanding bench warrants, processing criminal requests, court orders, arraignment rescheduling requests and bail paperwork, and assigning arraignment dates. The incumbent also receives payments into appropriate account codes for fines, bail, restitution, sanction, forfeitures, civil orders, certified mailings, copies, executions, and marriage ceremonies, balances a cash drawer, and generates cash summary reports.Additional responsibilities include assisting with electronic case management by importing cases into OnBase, opening and routing new electronic filings, retrieving files, and supporting other divisions as needed.HoursFull‑time court employees work 37.5 hours per week. Working hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one‑hour lunch break.Work EnvironmentThe Customer Service Division is located on the first floor of the Nesbett Courthouse. Each employee receives a private parking pass for the courthouse parking garage.BenefitsCompetitive benefits package includes 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, and optional vision coverage, employer‑paid life insurance, enrollment in PERS and SBS, Alaska Deferred Compensation Plan, and personal leave accrued for vacation, illness, or personal needs.QualificationsHigh school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate and one year of office clerical experience.Office clerical experience may substitute for the high school diploma or GED on a month‑for‑month basis.Completion of 36 semester credit hours (48 quarter credit hours) of coursework from an accredited college substitutes for one year of required office clerical experience.Vocational training in legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills may substitute for required office clerical experience on a month‑for‑month basis.Legal EmploymentApplicants must certify a legal right to work in the United States.
