As the administrative head of the City, the City Manager oversees the day-to day operations of the City government, enforces City laws, and prepares and manages the City budget. The City Manager advises the City Council on matters that affect all aspects of City operations and recommends appropriate action that may involve legislation, fiscal matters, capital improvement, and other City policies. The ideal candidate must have a broad range of experience in municipal government. A candidate with experience in a variety of areas such as finance, economic and organizational development will be highly valued. The new City Manager should have a background in developing intergovernmental relations as well as relations between regional jurisdictions.
