Job Position Number: 7070532 Hourly Pay Rate: $ 11.30 - 12.00/hour Job Location /Shift: This position will be located at Knob Noster State Park, 873 SE 10 RD, Knob Noster, Missouri 65336. This position will be temporary, extending the length of the recreation season from April through August or later, depending on availability. The work hours are flexible and negotiable; between 20 to 40 hours per week, not to exceed 1,000 hours total during the length of the employment. The work week is Wednesday - Sunday, working weekends and holidays. Working hours are primarily during the day between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. but will include evenings depending on the need of the facility. Housing is available. Why you'll love this position: Knob Noster State Park is the largest stand of wildlife habitat in Johnson County, Missouri. The unique attributes of the park will allow you to discover how you can best serve Missouri in protecting and preserving its natural and cultural resources. What you'll do: Trail Maintenance - Assist in monitoring and maintaining 19 miles of park trails including but not limited to seasonal maintenance, repairs, and expansion Natural Resource Stewardship - Assist in natural resource management including but not limited to resource monitoring surveys, invasive plant management, and eco-restoration Cultural Resource Stewardship - Assist in cultural resource management including but not limited to cataloging, tracking, and monitoring on-site cultural resources Additional responsibilities may include: public speaking, interpretive programming, outdoor recreation, customer service, visitor interaction, general park cleaning and maintenance, and captive animal care (snakes and a turtle) All you need for success: Preferred Qualifications and Experience/Special Job Requirements Valid driver's license Must work weekends and holidays Ability to carry and lift 50 lbs. over uneven terrain for an extended period of time Ability to work outdoors in hot, humid weather Ability to work as part of a team and independently Experience, interest, or study of wildlife, ecology, parks, recreation, education, history, communication, trail management, or interpretation is a plus If you have questions about this position please contact: Chris Edmondson by phone: 660-563-2463; or by email: Chris.Edmondson@dnr.mo.gov The State of Missouri is an equal opportunity employer.
