Job Description and Duties SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) - SANTA CRUZ DISTRICT / WILDER RANCH STATE PARK Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. The Visitor Services Forestry Aide provides assistance in the Visitor Services program by developing and implementing projects including completing environmental review paperwork, developing tool and material lists, and coordinating with Maintenance, Resources and Visitor services’ staff. Serves as a lead for volunteer groups gathering tools, directing work crews and tracking progress. Assist in other resource management tasks such as tree marking, layout and flagging, timber cruising, prescribed fire, exotic plant control, hydrologic and soil disturbance monitoring, vegetation monitoring, and wildlife monitoring. Assist Visitor Services staff when not engaged in project work. Typical working hours include nights, holidays, and weekends depending on program/project needs. Spike camping may be required. The incumbent’s work schedule varies based on the operational need of the park. This is a part-time seasonal position with a limit of 189 days per calendar year. This position will work under the supervision of the State Parks Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger). The Visitor Services Forestry Aide provides assistance in the Visitor Services program by developing and implementing projects including completing environmental review paperwork, developing tool and material lists, and coordinating with Maintenance, Resources and Visitor services’ staff. Serves as a lead for volunteer groups gathering tools, directing work crews and tracking progress. Assist in other resource management tasks such as tree marking, layout and flagging, timber cruising, prescribed fire, exotic plant control, hydrologic and soil disturbance monitoring, vegetation monitoring, and wildlife monitoring. Assist Visitor Services staff when not engaged in project work. Typical working hours include nights, holidays, and weekends depending on program/project needs. Spike camping may be required.
