Title: Area Director, San Francisco
Summary:

The San Francisco Area Director is responsible for overseeing all grassroots, political and development outreach in the San Francisco Area, which includes Napa, Sonoma, Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo Counties.  The Area Director does this by educating activists about American and Israeli political developments and teaching activists how to be effective pro-Israel advocates in the political area.  The Area Director must also inspire new people to become involved with AIPAC, while continuing to work with and motivate our current base of activists.

 Responsibilities

  • Manage and achieve annual fundraising goals.
    • Coordinate and execute annual development plan
    • Face-to-face solicitations of major donors
    • Orchestrate major events to encourage fundraising
  • Develop AIPAC lay leadership structure to include:
    • Cultivate and recruit new members, donors and leaders
    • Create a leadership path for activists
    • Identify and recruit appropriate members for national and regional programs
    • Encourage pro-Israel political activism
  • Plan, execute and recruit for events such as:
    • Local fundraisers
    • Approximately 4-6 educational/appreciation programs for club donors per year
    • Parlor meetings and other events that serve as outreach to new prospects
    • Events tailored for specific constituencies such as the Russian Emigre community, Israelis or Rabbis
    • Caucuses and political parlor meetings
    • Community-wide events
  • Coordinate AIPAC's lobbying efforts for four congressional districts to ensure support of the organization's legislative agenda.
  • Public speaking in small and large venues to brief the leadership, membership and pro-Israel community regarding the latest developments in Israel and the Middle East.
  • Work with local synagogues by developing relationships with rabbis and boards to infuse pro-Israel activism into congregational activities.
  • Manage a team comprised of a Leadership Management Director and an Assistant Area Director to help execute all of the above.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of work experience in related field
  • Fundraising, campaign management and major gift solicitation experience
  • Knowledge of San Francisco Area Jewish community a plus
  • Knowledge of American and Middles Eastern politics desirable
  • Experience in non-profit organizations a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Significant experience managing a professional team
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Public speaking skills
  • U.S. Citizenship
