Town of Collierville

The Town of Collierville is located in the southeast corner of Shelby County, approximately 30 miles east of Memphis. It is one of the fastest growing towns in the Memphis metro service area. The Town covers a total of 24.6 square miles and has a population of more than 47,000 residents. There are over 16,000 households within the Town of Collierville. The median family household income is $104,724, and more than 53% of those who are 25 years old and older have a bachelor’s degree. 

The Town of Collierville’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen serve as the Town government and oversee the administration of the Town. The Mayor is the executive head of the Town, and enforces its ordinances as well as the laws of the State of Tennessee.

The Board appoints the Town Administrator, the Town Clerk, the Finance Director and heads of Town departments to include: Development, Fire, General Services, Parks and Recreation, Police and Public Services.  The Town employs approximately 545 people within these departments, in positions that allow them to use their particular gifts, whether that is managing and developing employees who will excel; maintaining the beauty and functionality of the Town’s green spaces; curating the Town’s community art galleries; tracking and managing the Town’s financial resources or repairing the machines that make the Town hum.

Every town has a Main Street, and Collierville’s was named “America’s Best Main Street” in 2014 by Parade Magazine, a supplemental magazine that is included in over 700 U.S. newspapers each Sunday.  The street runs through Collierville’s Historic Town Square, which is the setting for popular annual events like The Fair on the Square, the Sunset on the Square Summer Concert Series and the lighting of the Square Christmas tree. The Morton Museum of Collierville History, located at the corner of Main and Poplar, preserves the past, while the rest of the Square is packed with shops and restaurants that offer the latest in what’s good to have and eat.

The new Collierville School District was formed in 2014 and serves over 8,000 students from various backgrounds. There are five elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school.  Town is currently building a new state-of-the-art high school which will accommodate 3,000 students, making it the largest public high school in Tennessee.  The University of Memphis opened a Collierville Center in 2015, providing a convenient option for Town residents pursuing further education.

Collierville is also home to many award winning parks and recreational facilities, and includes more than 20 regional, community and neighborhood parks. These parks contain 30 athletic fields, 10 tennis courts, 15 playgrounds and two spray parks. The Collierville Park System also has over 18 miles of beautiful greenbelt trails for families and people of all ages to enjoy.
